But then I remember that I can do this.

I got a better idea. V8 swap.

While it would be awesome the space constraints and weight associated with it would make it near impossible

That thing is so JDM, yo, it's a requirement to stick your arm out the window to start it.

All I care for is that lumpy idle, otherwise that whole car is a damn shame

Screw logic, install V8.

1UZ. DO IT.

Logic I can screw, money I cannot.

Don't screw money, spend it on V8 parts.

But AW11 MR2……

Lumpy idle? Lumpy idle.

I read AW11, I saw AE86. I herp'd before I derp'd.

Yea….thats what the title was for, but the engine is the same which is what i was going for

V6 MR2's can still sound pretty mean.

I'd bet idle air control valve.

AW11? Turbo the 4AGE, best thing to do.
![]() 10/16/2014 at 20:37 |

Yep, a suprcharged 1MZ-FE is the ultimate goal as its going to be exclusively a track/autocross toy within a couple year. A turbo would be a lot easier but my engine is so old and tired that Id need to pull it for a rebuild before a turbo anyway and if its coming out a 1MZ-FE is going in.

1MZ-FE might be a good deal more difficult to do unless someone makes motor mounts for example and other things like a adaptor for the transmission for it. Is that something that exists?
A cool idea might be to get a 4AGE 20v engine and get lower compressions pistons. You would have an extremely good breathing engine for a turbo right there.
Supercharge 1MZ-FE sounds cool but it also sounds hard.

The 1MZ-FE swap is probably the most common straight up swap so theres enough out there to do it properly and generally speaking you just buy a 5spd XV20 Camry with the 1MZ-FE and use both the engine and transmission and theres a bolt on TRD supercharger available. I do like the 20v turbo idea though.

20v turbo has fairly epic response for a turbo plus insane top end. You can run like a 2860rs turbo on there and get over 300whp easy or go further and get a 2871 or a gtx2867 and they come on earlier than the stock turbo on my 2l Skyline lol. Look up some builds like that, or dyno plots, on the club4ag
Also there is a site Matrix Garage that builds t28 and Mitsubishi turbo manifolds, if you want to go for a FP Red or something crazy like that, for the AW11 so you don't have to get it fabricated custom. Then you have megasquirt pnp which is easy inexpensive engine management. I put a lot of thought into a AW11 turbo build a while back, it's very doable on a budget but I bet you can go very far if you have money to spend.
The matrix garage people might also have V6 swap stuff too so you might want to check it out either way. supercharged V6 would probably have awesome low end torque I would like to see that in action.

Im pretty much looking for as much as I can get on the low end because it'll probably be autocrossed and a supercharged V6 would give me exactly that, while I love the fact that I could have an easy 300whp 4AGE its not the most practical thing for autocross.
